A trip down memory lane

So how was your Thanksgiving?  I have alot to be thankful for.  I spent the actual day with Jennifer's family.  They treat me like one of the clan and I love that.  The food and the company could not have been better.  And we topped it off with the first viewing of the year of Christmas Vacation.  Why did I say 1st?  Because by the time Christmas gets here I will have seen it at least 10 times.  It is hands down my favorite movie.  I already watched it again today when putting up my tree.  :-)

I then made a quick trip to PA to visit my parents.  I wasn't there long but we had a good time -- and another turkey dinner!  Yum!

I haven't been home much lately so there are no new cards to post.    So for kicks I went through my cards that have been published over the years.  I must admit that with most of them the phrase "what were you thinking" came to mind repeatedly.  Oh my...  Someone published them so they must not have been so bad at the time but most were not post worthy here.  The ones that were use out of date supplies, of course, but I thought some of the elements of them might be worth sharing.  I guess you'll decide that!  :-)

A couple of years ago Jennifer asked me to be one of the designers for the "Designing With" calendar from Autumn Leaves.  I thought she was crazy because I could not hold a candle to the designers they use.   And it definitely was a creative stretch for me.     These cards were from that when she suggested I do something that shows how to incorporate a monetary gift into a card...

Pretty simple design really.   I just wanted to use this Basic Grey paper -- older design but I still love it.

I'm back from my trip!

It's always so sad to see a vacation end but we had a great time.  Some of you wondered if I fell off the face of the earth.    No, just don't have cards to post right now.  I need to get back on that and will post some as soon as I get caught up!  :-)

OK, so if you can read you can figure out the answer in the 2nd photo!  :-)  These pictures were actually taken on a previous visit and we're going a bit later this year so the leaves aren't this beauteous right now.  But you get the idea.   I'm on my annual trip with the girls for a few days of shopping, eating, talking, laughing -- you know, girlie stuff.  So Fun!

OK, so I'm stuck on Basic Grey -- I admit it.  I love that some of their patterns can work well for either gender.  Love it!

A year in review Christmas card

This was my Christmas card from two years ago.   The patterned paper may be out of date (I have no idea what it is) but people who received these  seemed to like the idea so I thought I'd share it with you.   I picked out some photos that represented things that brought me joy that year --- Friends, family, pets, and the birth of two very special little boys (recognize the one on the left?)  I don't generally have enough to say in one of those newsletters but this gave a picture of my year at a glance.

I like the colors of these two Hero note cards together.  And their notecards are perfect for using the Cuttlebug dots and then sending them.  The white core of the paper comes through and gives it a great look!   I used liquid applique around the scalloped circle to give it just a bit of dimension.

I'm back in business. Yay!

After several hours on the phone with Dell (which is always fun) my computer is back in working order.  You become totally aware of how dependent you are on it when you don't have it. 

So you would think that without my computer I would be spending time making cards.  Uh... you would think....  I can't really tell you what I've been doing with my time, but it's not that.  I think I'm in a creative slump -- not in the mood to do it.

But here's a card that I made recently.   It seems the perfect card for my friend Sandi N.  She injured her foot pretty badly and has surgery tomorrow.  If you are so inclined, say a little prayer for her, the doctors and her family.   Thanks!

 

Sorry I have been MIA this week...

My computer is on the fritz.   I'm hoping to get it fixed soon and be back here more regularly.  In the meantime, have a great weekend!
