Summer Card Camp Week 3 card

Summer Card Camp is going WAY too fast.   I love waking to an email with new inspiration.   This color combination is one I probably would not have thought of.

That's one of the most fun things about this camp -- it makes me stretch my creativity.  I don't emboss on patterned paper very often and I thought this was a great opportunity to do it on a paper that brings in the dark brown color.  And I needed a get well card for a man so these colors were perfect. Here is my card!

Happily Ever After

I loved this Lawn Fawn set when I saw it and I'm just now getting around to making a card with it.  I knew I wanted to use the dress stamp to make a white on white card.   I seem to be into stealing other people's ideas right now (at least I admit it!).  One of the Lawn Fawn design team members covered the bodice in pearls and the vellum over-skirt is ala Kathy Racoosin!   The rest is mine... :-)   This was so fun to make.

 

The vellum over-skirt is kind of floating over the stamped image.  I cut a bit more vellum above the waist and adhered it to the bodice there.  Knowing the pearls were going over it you can't tell how the vellum is being held on.

Simple pop of color cards

I saw a card by Melissa Bickford in Cards magazine and just loved it.  I was attracted to the pop of color on a white card (I'm into that right now for some reason).  They also seemed like something I could make quickly and I had several I needed to make.  I went looking in my stash for some of my older patterned paper that had big bold patterns.

Supplies:   Paper is My Mind's Eye.  Hero Arts white notecard and Greeting stamp. Stamping Scrapping white paper flower (covered with Hero Pool shadow ink and sprayed with Perfect Pearl Water). Martha Stewart pearl.

Expecting .... Love

I saw this stamp set from My Favorite Things (one of my favorite stamp companies) and had to have it.   My niece needed a card!  :-)  And I loved the greeting.   I was tooling around on the many blogs I follow the other day and came across a tutorial to make a single step card and I had to try it.   Here is the blog where I found it..    Really easy if you follow the instructions. 

I had to chuckle when I saw this card photographed.  It looks like she is "neck-ed" from the waist down!  It's khaki but perhaps I should make it a little darker.  Ha!

Jennifer's favorite

Jennifer has loved this technique and I must admit I've not gotten into it -- until now!    Here is a card we made in her class with it: (on the flowers)

You stamp your image in Versamark on watercolor paper and heat emboss with white embossing powder.  Then, you take whatever Distress Ink colors you want and smear it all over (cover it, pad to paper).  Then you spray the heck out of it with water with Perfect Pearls in it.  She will tell you it gets  kind of ugly in this stage.  But when it dries?  So pretty.  So I decided to give it a try on another card:

Summer Card Camp Week 2 card

I loved the colors for this week.  So cheery.

Happy July 4th!

 

My nephew would kill me if he saw that I posted this.  This was taken 13 years ago.  But it's one of my favorite memories of July 4th, watching a parade in Traverse City and the National Cherry Festival.

I have been staring at the cards on the Hero Arts catalog for awhile now and wanted to make a card inspired by the one on the left:

I mimicked the three flowers on my card but wanted the colors to be a bit brighter and bolder.  Have you tried the Faber Castell big brush markers? I got hooked on them in Jennifer and Shari's class.  I have nearly all of the Copics, why do I need more markers.  Because these are so fun and you can stamp with them!  Love the look.

I used Hero's Basic Grey Sweet Threads stamp for the flowers, stems and greeting.  I also could not wait to use this new Hero Lotus stamp:

I stamped it in versamark and embossed with Ranger Clear Detail embossing powder.  I knew it would be gorgeous and it is! I am sure I will be using this one alot.

Finally got around to making a Summer Card Camp Week 1 card!

I was kind of bummed this morning to not wake up to a new email from the card camp gang.  OK, they spoiled me five days in a row.  What i love is that I never would have done this color combo.  And I feel like I cheated a little.... found this patterned paper in my stash that had most of the colors in this!

So off I went and created this... 

Lots of patterned paper in this baby!  :-)   I couldn't find the right color cardstock for the bottom piece so... created it by coloring Copic marker on white paper!  Simple!
