When I made the birthday card for Colin I had a piece of the brown stars patterned paper left over when I cut out the frame. I couldn't let it go to waste! So I made this card with the same patterned paper pad. I had fun coloring the Paper Smooches set with Copics. Simple to make.
These stamps aren't really my style but I just love them. So unique and I have seen designers do such amazing projects with them. I wanted to try them so I set out to MAKE them my style. How else - paper piecing! These cards actually came together very quickly. And can you believe it? Not a single die in sight. Amazing.... Ha!
No, not my sister.... My Mom asked me to make a card that she could send to hers. Seems I can't get enough of the Dear Lizzy 5th & Frolic paper -- sorry another card with it. I wanted to use the Simon Says Stamp Fresh Daisies die to create a feminine card for my Aunt. And of course I had to put some Glossy Accents on the flower! I created the greeting on my computer. Of all of the stamps I own how is it possible I don't have a sister one? Ha!
I have had the Simon Says Stamp Where The Heart Is Die and Stamp sets and have not had a chance to play with them and finally did! I wanted it to have a soft look and 5th & Frolic from Dear Lizzy was just the ticket. I stamped the door and windows on white cardstock, colored them with Copics and cut them out. Some Glossy Accents on the windows, some Diamond Stickles on the heart on the house to add some dimension and done. This was so fun to make.
[Note: I used to put links in the description so you could see the products I used on the project. I am putting all of them at the bottom with the thumbnails now. I learned how to do that so if you want to see any of these supplies? Look down below!]
I am so relieved that my laptop is repaired and I'm back to creating and sharing again. There is a die challenge going on in the Simon Forum over at SplitCoastStampers (until 2/24) and while I can't participate officially I wanted to play along. The challenge is to use a die and it's not hard for me to do that - I can't seem to make a card without one!
I stumbled on a Hero Arts Stamp & Die set that I hadn't used and loved the shape of the dies. I didn't use the stamps but thought it would be cute to use the dies with patterned paper. I went a little Glossy Accent crazy on this card .. I covered both flowers in it. You may wonder how I got the bottom flower to curl up. I didn't! When the Glossy Accents dried that's what it did and I kept it that way. For the "you" I die cut it 3 times and stacked it to give it some depth -- then? More Glossy Accents of course!
Recently Simon Say Stamp became a member company on SplitCoast Stampers. Right now they have a special event called LoveFest where each day a member company is featured. Today is Simon's Day! And we are running a challenge called Die Crazy. Look for details here.
All you have to do is make a card using a die (one or more), enter it into our LoveFest gallery and you will be entered in a random drawing for a $25 E-card (two will be awarded). Now come, you know you can't make a card without a die so head on over and join us! :-)
