I am hooked on the Tim Holtz/Ranger distress inks. At our retreat this weekend I made this card:
You're thinking, where's the distress ink? There isn't any. I made this card to play around with the crackle paint (which I also love and was applied to this chipboard butterfly). Jennifer was sitting next to me and asked me to remake the card but to create a "distressed version". And here is what resulted:
I had this image of distress ink that caused me to use earthier, browner tones to do it. I never thought of distressing these kinds of colors. These beautiful Hero note card colors? Shabby Shutters and Broken China distress inks look gorgeous on them! I didn't have another chipboard butterfly so I cut this one out of Bazzill dotted paper (using my Cuttlebug butterfly die cut) and distressed it with ink. I then rubbed a bit of crystal Stickles on it with my finger to give it a hint of glisten. I was thrilled when she asked if she could use it on the Hero Arts blog. It is featured there today and I am truly honored. PLEASE don't miss a moment on the blog this week if you are into distressing, or learning more about it. Jennifer is featuring these products all week. I saw some of the cards that are coming up being created at our retreat and they are FABULOUS!

Wow...I feel like I hit the jackpot with all your great cards!!! This card is more my speed and love of color. I love the way you designed with a butterfly and the happy colors your used.
Many Thanks

Beautiful cards Jana. I really love the color combination. I have never tried distressing but am going to give it a go with help from your blog and Jennifer's week on the Hero Arts blog. Thanks for all you have posted on the great new techniques you have learned.

Great card Jana. I love the colors. I saw it on the HA blog this morning. I check that blog daily. Thanks for all the good ideas from Ranger U and your "girls" retreat weekend. Sounds like a blast!

Jana,
Big wow with this one! I love both versions, seriously. I saw this one over on the Hero Arts blog, and had to come over to your blog and tell you how much I liked it.
