This card came together really quickly. I die cut the checked part using a Taylored Expressions die. To make it look softer I overlaid it with vellum. I used a greeting from the Technique Tuesday How Are You clear stamp set.

Jennifer McGuire made a gorgeous card here that showed using Ranger's new texture paste and adding color with distress ink. I wanted to try this technique. I really like how easy this paste is to work with. I applied the paste to white cardstock using the waves stencil. And boy did it take the color of the ink! So much so that it came out a lot richer in color than I thought it would with Peacock Feathers Distress Ink. So I had to find an image to put on it that was equally intense. So I Copic colored this Darcie's Ocean Pals octopus with purple, a color I rarely reach for. And someone should have stopped me when I thought fussy cutting a creature with EIGHT TINY LEGS was a good idea. Sigh... I won't be doing that again! ha!

Yesterday's card used a new Technique Tuesday Hello Sunshine stamp set and some Scrap Happy Bailey patterned paper. I was having fun with those so I thought I'd keep creating with them! This card came together pretty quickly once I fussy cut the sun. I added some Wink of Stella over the rays of the sun for a little bit of sparkle.

You may have seen on Jennifer McGuire's blog that a mutual friend of ours knows a little girl and her family who could use some encouragement right now. See the post about Katy here. If you have a few minutes and can get a card in the mail to them? Please do.
The stamp set is a new one from Technique Tuesday called Hello Sunshine that I just loved.
I also loved the patterned paper. I saw it from a company called Scrap Happy Ohio. They were at Stampaway this past weekend, a big stampy convention in Cincinnati. The paper pack was called Bailey and of course I had to have it since that's my sweet cat's name! And I loved the color combination which of course is the real reason I bought it. Ha! I put Glossy Accents on the thin yellow strip of cardstock and the sun is glittery (BAD photographer, you can't see that)

Jennifer introduced me to the adorable monthly kits from Freckled Fawn. They have the cutest, most unique things in these adorable zip bags and they are just happiness in the mail! I wanted to make a quick card and there will be more coming but it's so much fun to play with.

I was playing around with distress inks and embossing on watercolor paper and I created the background of this card. And once I was done with it I realized I had no plan for what to do with it! Ha! So I went looking through my stamps and found this little rainy day girl and it was perfect. She was fun to color and I covered her rain jacket and boots with glossy accents to make them look like that shiny patent leather finish.
I decided to cut out the background piece using the My Favorite Things Vertical Frame Die. You can see that it has an inner and outer piece which could be divided and used for two cards but I decided to use both here. I used the inner die cut part with a piece of vellum like I often see the amazing Nichol Magouirk do. She covers busy backgrounds with vellum to soften the look and I love how it worked here. You can get this die at Simon Says Stamp and I have linked that below. However, My Favorite Things has this die on sale right now for a really reduced price here if you want one. I can see myself using this die a lot because the little Pure Innocence kids fit so nicely on it.

I am into stamp sets with cats on them right now. I saw this stamp and die set from PaperTrey Ink and thought it was so cute. I also used the washi strips from a Freckled Fawn embellishment kit. If you don't subscribe to that check it out. So cute! I hadn't made a clear card in a while so I thought it would be fun to do one with this kitty.
