It's the most wonderful time of the year! Simon Says Stamp just kicked off a month long celebration of creating and stamping. Each day there are new surprises and inspiration. Today is a blog part with many artists using the new Simon Says STAMPtember release. Have you seen all of the goodies? You can see them here.
I made a card with my favorite new product -- the Big Hippo Picture Book Die. If you follow me on social media you know that I have a bit of an obsession with the baby hippo at the Cincinnati Zoo named Fiona. So this die was right up my alley.
The hippo is really easy to make. I used two colors of cardstock. I die cut the lighter piece three times and stacked them. This added just a little bit of dimension to the head. I colored the ears pink with Copic markers and added some Glossy Accents to the eyes to make them shine.
To create the background I used Altenew watercolors on Tim Holtz watercolor paper. I applied enough water to get the colors to kind of run together. After it dried I flicked some black paint on it. Then I sprayed the whole thing with Shimmer Spray. I love the sparkle.
The greeting uses a My Favorite Things Happy Hippos stamp set, stamped in Versamark on black cardstock and heat embossed with Hero Arts White embossing powder. I added some dimension by putting the greeting strip on the card with foam tape. Then I attached it all to a top folding card base.
Be sure to stop by the Simon Says Stamp blog to see the list of all of bloggers that are featuring these new products today. And have fun!
Starting today there is a fun new promotion that you can participate in when you shop at Simon Says Stamp.
